Chassagne-Montrachet
Thursday, November 26, 2026 - 6:00 PM
Complementary to our regular workshops that provide an overview of a vineyard as a whole, our Connoisseur evenings focus on a single appellation to dissect its subtleties and go further.
For this tasting, we will give center stage to the reds of Chassagne-Montrachet, the largely forgotten ones of a village now celebrated for its whites. Yet, until the mid-20th century, Pinot Noir reigned supreme there, before winemakers massively replanted with Chardonnay to replicate the glory of neighboring Montrachet. What remains of the red variety grows mostly on the clay of the lower slopes, far from the great calcareous crus of the summit, resulting in wines that are more rustic and structured than their cousins from the Côte de Nuits. We will attempt to understand why this style, unfairly neglected, deserves to be restored to its rightful place.
Vinification, aging, exposure: nothing will be left out for this specialized blind tasting, designed for enthusiasts who want to delve deeper into their quest for great wines and great evenings.
Price of the workshop-tasting including three wines, appetizers, and service: $79 + taxes.
