'Camándula' Spanish Wine 2019

Fedellos loosely translates to "little rascals," and Couto refers to the 12th-century manor in Ribeira Sacra, in the heart of the vineyards.

It is a recent project, launched in 2013 by Luis Taboada (whose family has owned the Couto manor for generations), along with winemakers Curro Barreño and Jesús Olivares.

They lease 4 hectares of vineyards farmed organically and worked by hand—there would be no other way on these steep terraces! The vines are planted in terraces along the steep slopes of the Sil and Bibei rivers, with a myriad of grape varieties, altitudes, and exposures.

The wines are fermented with native yeasts and whole clusters, at low temperatures to promote gentle extraction of color and phenols. All the wines share an Atlantic freshness and slate minerality that make these wines unmistakably Galician.
