Côtes du Roussillon Villages 'Les Terrasses' 2021

The wines are produced on the Forca Real hill (altitude 505 m), 15 km northwest of Perpignan.

This hill is formed of slate schists (slates) dating back 450 million years.

These are metamorphic rocks, originally clay sediments that were subjected to high pressure and significant temperature variations, and which took on the form of thin plates.

This stone hill offers an exceptional panorama over the entire Roussillon plain and the sea. Humans were already settled in this environment 500,000 years ago, as evidenced by the oldest human bones in France, discovered at the "Cauna de l’Arago" near the current village of Tautavel. During the vineyard development work, we regularly find carved stones that belonged to our distant ancestors.

Thus, our terroir has always been a welcoming land, and even a maritime landmark, since the Forca Real hill has always served as a sea beacon for the fishermen of Collioure.

Making wine on the lands of the first humans and on a hill that serves as a fixed point in the storm is perhaps what inspired generations of farmers who have succeeded one another at Forca Real.
