2022 Malbec 'The Party'

Matias Riccitelli was born in Cafayate, Salta, a small village located in northern Argentina, a place where you can truly breathe wine. He moved to Mendoza with his family, where he studied oenology. A few years later, Matias became the head winemaker for one of Argentina's most prestigious wineries. A tireless traveler and passionate dreamer, after participating in numerous harvests throughout the wine world, accumulating anecdotes and experiences, he finally decided to put these experiences into practice alongside the teachings of Jorge Riccitelli (his father and mentor) and founded Riccitelli Wines in 2009.

The winery is located in Las Compuertas, at an altitude of 1100 meters, the highest area of Lujan de Cuyo, where they own 20 hectares of old ungrafted vineyards. They also work with small producers who own their own land at the foot of the Andes, at altitudes ranging between 1000 and 1700 meters, notably in Gualtallary, Chacayes, Vistalba, Las Compuertas, and La Carrera.

In 2015, they launched a new project aimed at enhancing old Semillon, Merlot, and Malbec vineyards in Argentine Patagonia. These vineyards were planted in the late sixties and are located in the upper Rio Negro valley.

Their harvests are done by hand to preserve the integrity of each bunch of grapes. The grapes are then placed into small concrete vats. What they seek in their vineyards is to ensure the best expression of their terroir by maintaining the greatest purity and delicacy in the winemaking and aging process, taking care of their singularity to obtain vibrant wines. The great diversity of soils, strongly influenced by altitude, shows the great potential of Argentina in oenology, and this is what they wish to express through their wines.
