A few years ago, serious drinkers would never have been caught with a glass of Shiraz or Sauvignon Blanc from Oceania in their hand. Synonymous with commercial success and therefore considered less serious by the sommelier crowd, Australia and New Zealand have, for some years now, been increasingly less visible on the shelves of the monopoly and on the wine lists of Montreal’s dining establishments.
And yet, these two nations remain 6th and 13th in terms of volume of wine produced. We will explore how a terroir enviable for vines has transformed into a complex geopolitical situation for these two nations. We will obviously take the opportunity to debunk stereotypes and discover the next generation of winemakers who are shaking up the typical characteristics of "down under," one bottle at a time.
Price of the workshop-tasting including wine, appetizers, and service: $114 + taxes.
