Raoul's Blend 2022

Raoul Beaumont was a character of vineyards and motorcycles. His life took him around the world (mostly by sailboat), but eventually, he returned to the Cape where, with Jayne, he bought the old Compagnes Drift wine farm in 1974. He immediately began replanting the vineyards primarily with white grape varieties and a small amount of Pinotage and Tinta Barocca. Then, in the 1990s, he began experimenting with other red varieties such as Syrah, Mourvèdre, Cabernet Franc, and Grenache to see what would work best on the property.

As a true farmer, Raoul was never impressed by the glamour surrounding wine and instead viewed it as an essential ingredient of daily life. This blend pays tribute to Raoul's simple pleasure in wine. Primarily led by Syrah with a touch of young Pinotage vines bringing the red fruit element, supported by smaller amounts of Malbec, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Grenache.
