Start the rosé season with your feet in the Mediterranean!
Located in Bormes-les-Mimosas (you couldn't make that up!), Château Léoube is a stone's throw from the Mediterranean coast on Cap Bénat. A visit to their website will have you adding this destination to your wine bucket list…
Since 1997, the estate has been owned by British businessman Sir Anthony Paul Bamford, chairman of JCB, the global specialists in heavy equipment. A 560-hectare park made up of forest, gardens, olive trees, vines, and beaches that, once well-arranged with the right equipment (…), form an idyllic whole.
In the past, we had the pleasure of working with its white alter ego. It greatly charmed our clientele at the Provence workshop. We are therefore very happy to see the rosé arrive at the SAQ.
An equal blend of Grenache and Cinsault, the wine is dry and aromatic, focused on stone fruits, with small red berries standing out on the palate. The attack is rich and ample, providing length and freshness. The Mediterranean salinity transports us.
- To pair with it: a Caprese salad with a local twist: strawberries, cheese curds, chopped basil and mint, olive oil, freshly ground pepper, and a dash of white balsamic vinegar.
- For the record: This rosé marks the beginning of the summer season. To celebrate the heat and the beautiful weather, we are preparing a 'special edition rosé' feature that will be published shortly…
- To better understand rosés: Get on the waiting list for our workshop on the subject in winter '25!
- Also a safe bet for rosé is this Bandol rosé ‘Cuvée India’ 2023, Dupéré Barrera, $30 at the SAQ (14121209)
