SAQ Rolle In Stone Vermentino 2023, Domaine Cazes, Languedoc-Roussillon
Rhythm of Rolle
If you are a regular at our establishment, Les Cavistes, you know that we have a special relationship with the AdVini group and their estates. On several occasions, we have had the opportunity to host various winemakers from their domains, and we even offered two trips to the Languedoc-Roussillon region to two winning couples from our 10th-anniversary contest in 2012.
But beyond this special rapport, we love the wines produced by their estates, and particularly their personality. And at the peak of the Catalan character pyramid is Lionel Lavail, the artisan behind this Vermentino of place and pleasure. Always looking for grape varieties that will adapt to the changing realities of the climate and tastes, Lionel offers this Rolle of happiness and simplicity.
Expressive like the winemaker himself, you will find a wine that is elegant yet approachable for any occasion. Floral and supported by lively citrus, the palate is smooth and mineral. It’s organic and dynamic, too! Thanks to Lionel and the SAQ for this late-summer arrival that will extend the vacation season.
- To pair with: shrimp ceviche with diced avocado,
- A bit of trivia: since 2018, it has been forbidden to use "Vermentino" on wine labels produced outside the two Italian appellations of Vermentino di Gallura and Vermentino di Sardegna, which explains the rebirth of the name "Rolle" in this case...
- To better understand the wines of Languedoc-Roussillon: keep an eye out for the announcement of this theme for next fall!
- A blend with a good proportion of Rolle, you may also want to try the Côté Catalanes 2023, Domaine de Majas for $20 at the SAQ (13993241)
